YOGA: Each class varies, offering students opportunities for beginning or deepening their practice, incorporating breathing, back-bending, twists, side bending and/or inversions and meditation. PRIVATE Sessions: Perfect for tailoring a practice specific for your needs! We will work with you to develop the perfect plan. Sessions may include as many or as few of the following as appropraite for you: yoga fundamentals, breathing techniques, beginning or more advanced asanas or remedial work on the mechanics or each asana, assisted stretching and meditation.
ALL LEVELS Yoga Blend (Flow and Hatha) : Incorporates the mental, physical, spiritual aspects and breathing techniques of the 5,000 year old discipline, Each class includes a flowing sun salutation practice (for energy, full body warm-up, cardiovascular fitness, muscle lengthening and moving mediation) then moves to a blend of Hatha yoga asanas, including balancing, back-bending, inversions and twists. Students are encouraged to make their practice as vigorous or as nurturing a class as is individually appropriate for that particular day. Beginners are welcome; more experienced yoginis have the opportunity to deepen their practice.
BEGINNER'S (Gentle Kripalu) Yoga
A gentle, heart-centered flow of postures, focusing on alignment, breath and awareness. Much slower and longer holds than the other flow classes offered at Tula. Perfect for beginners or anyone wanting to experience a more gentle practice.
Power Yoga: A challenging yoga class with a focus on general strength, core strength, challenging asana (alignment details), vinyasa, correct breathing (pranayama), deep stretching.
Svaroopa Yoga: (please arrive 15 minutes early for all Svaroopa classes) Svaroopa refers to the inherent state of bliss within all of us. Using breath, postures and a working knowledge of the body, this unique style of hatha yoga explores the body with precision and compassion. Svaroopa Yoga, when practiced regularly, allows you to experience a spacious, rejuvenating feeling of coming home to your body. Through assisted poses, it provides freedom from tension and allows access to your own inner knowing. The experience calms the mind and stills the emotions that interfere with just being in the moment. All the activities of your daily life can be enriched. It will help you look better and feel better...from the inside out. Please arrive fifteen minutes early for each class to properly set up blankets/props.Pilates: The perfect complement to yoga! Utilizes a specific set of exercises synchronized with the breath to strengthen and stretch the core. *The twist: Each class has a fun way of incorporating various small apparatus (balls, weights, foam rollers and bands)--come see for yourself!:)
NIA Technique: an expressive workout and lifestyle practice that uses the Body's Way to achieve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual fitness and well-being. NIA blends elements of dance, yoga, martial arts and healing arts to world music for a complete movement experience. Increasing flexibility, agility, mobility, strength and stability are a focus. NIA is a non-impact, cardiovascular movement form that accommodates any and all levels of fitness. Classes are designed to leave you feeling deeply centered, powerful and relaxed.
Yoga for Athletes, Cardio Yoga: Incorporates the mental, physical, spiritual aspects and breathing techniques of the 5,000 year old discipline, but these fast-paced classes will feel like the only work-out you'll need! Great for aerobic conditioning, muscle toning and lengthning. (visit Beth, Elayne or Susan's class!)
Yoga Flow/Vinyasa: "Vinyasa" means breath synchronized movement. In this class you will to learn to cultivate a sense of calm through meditative movement. Using deep breathing to guide you through each asana you will develop grace and fluidity while energizing and strengthening the body.
